The Most Disappointing Debuts in 2015

Unknown - 23:07

Every year, a lot of actors are launched in Bollywood. While some of them are star kids, the rest struggle to get a break in the industry. This year, Bhumi Pednekar charmed us in the cute film, Dum Laga Ke Haisha while Shashank Arora won many hearts for his role in Titli, and we hope to see more of them in the coming year. While the two of them gave a remarkable performance in their first film, a lot of debutantes failed to impress. Here is the list of Bollywood actors who could have done much better in their debut films:

Athiya Shetty

Sunil Shetty’s daughter was launched in Nikhil Advani’s Hero, but the film tanked and the actress didn’t receive rave reviews either.

Karan Singh Grover

This television hunk made his debut opposite Bipasha Basu in the film Alone. Sadly, their alleged affair was more talked about than the movie. Also, his second release Hate Story 3 may have made money, but he was criticized for his performance.

Kapil Sharma

Known for his show Comedy Nights with Kapil, the actor hit the big screen with Abbas-Mustan’s Kis Kisko Pyaar Karoon. The film did average business but was panned by the critics. Most claimed that Sharma should stick to television only.

Anushka Ranjan

For those who don’t know, Anushka is the daughter of producers Shashi and Anu Ranjan, and made her debut in Wedding Pullav. While the parents put in their best to give her this launch, the film was an insipid affair.

Sooraj Pancholi

Just like his Hero co-star, Sooraj too received criticism for his debut film. The actor worked hard to build that body, but his acting left much to be desired.

Akshara Haasan

Kamal Haasan’s second daughter entered Bollywood with the film Shamitabh. Unfortunately, just like her sister Shruti, she too was given a thumbs down.
