This Is It: Short Film Review

Unknown - 22:15

Directed by Alexander Engel, This is It is one of the most brilliant yet simple short films you will have watched. With just an apartment and a few characters, Engel has managed to put out a winner. The format of the film is what sets it apart.

This is It is a story that progresses in questions. In questions it manages to tell us the whole story. As the story progresses, you realize questions are the dialogues in this short film. Engel uses a simple scenario and molds it into a tale and does so exceptionally well. The film begins like a short film about two roommates, but it progresses into a full-fledged story. This is It has been shot well and skillfully edited. Each scene cuts into the next and the movie flows effortlessly.

This is It will make you laugh and leave you awestruck in equal measure. The brilliance of the Brooklyn-based director is evident with this film. If all this isn’t enough to convince you to watch the film, then the length of the film should be. Just under three minutes, the film showcases its snappish genius. It is a condensed mass of brilliance and definitely worth a watch.
