Vijay’s Theri To Release On Tamil New Year

Unknown - 02:21

2015 wasn’t a particularly a good year for Vijay. His fantasy-drama film, Puli, which was touted to be a big film in his career, failed to create an impact at the box-office. The film was criticized by both critics and audience. But we all have to put aside the negative moments of the previous year, and begin 2016 on a better note, right? That’s exactly how Vijay has begun his year.

The actor has wrapped up the shoot of his film Theri. Directed by Atlee, this film will be Vijay’s first release of 2016. The first-look posters of the film showed us Vijay in an action mode. The posters showed us gun-trotting Vijay, that gave us a hint that he would be portraying the role of a police officer in the film. And images which are currently doing the rounds-on social media has confirmed this. Vijay will be seen playing the role of an IPS officer named, Vijaykumar. His gorgeous co-stars, Amy Jackson and Samantha Ruth Prabhu, will be seen playing a teacher and doctor respectively.

According to director Atlee, the title of the film implies three meanings – spark, energy and force.  This will be music director G. V. Prakash’s 50th music album. Apart from this, the film will also star famed filmmaker Mahendran playing a pivotal role in this film. The much-awaited film is said to release on 14th April, 2016 , which marks the Tamil New Year.

Atlee’s ambitious film is produced by noted producer Kalaipuli S Thanu. His other big production is Kabali. Starring Rajinikanth in the titular role, the film is also nearing its final stages of completion. It is slated to hit the screens in summer after Theri.
