While there is no sureshot formula to making a successful film, sequels and franchises have proved to be money spinners, time and again. Two of last year’s most profitable films were Pyaar Ka Punchnama 2 and Hate Story 3. They were made on a low budget and had relatively newer actors, but were winners at the box office. In fact, the makers have already planned to make the next installment in the franchises. This year too, plenty of such films will be releasing and we’re sure that they will do well. Here are some of the sequels/franchises that will hit theatres in 2016:
Jai Gangaajal
Slated for release on 4th March, the film stars Priyanka Chopra as a tough cop. The makers claim it is a new story altogether and has little to do with the 2003 film, Gangaajal.
Kyaa Kool Hain Hum 3

The third installment of the hit franchise has Tusshar Kapoor and Aftab Shivdasani playing porn stars. Besides them, Kyaa Kool Hain Hum 3 also stars Sunny Leone.
Rock On 2
The film is reported to take off five years from where the original film ended. While Farhan Akhtar, Purab Kohli, Arjun Rampal and Prachi Desai will reprise their roles, Shraddha Kapoor has been added to the cast.
Housefull 3
Sajid Khan may not be directing the third part of Housefull, but Akshay Kumar and Riteish Deshmukh continue to be a part of the franchise. The film also stars Abhishek Bachchan, Jacqueline Fernandez, Nargis Fakhri and Lisa Haydon.
Great Grand Masti
Also referred to as Masti 3, the adult comedy will once again feature Vivek Oberoi, Riteish Deshmukh and Aftab Shivdasani. Riteish was initially reluctant to do the film, but was signed on eventually.
