The Evolution Of The Little Black Dress

Unknown - 21:06

Can you imagine your wardrobe without an LBD? We can’t. This versatile number can be dressed down or up and is our fail-safe when we have those I-have-nothing-to-wear moments. Over the years, the LBD has gone through many transformations but still remains to be timeless and elegant.

Coco Chanel: 1926
Holding-1

Coco Chanel changed the way women dressed. She freed them from corsets and gave us the first designer bag and perfume. But it was the little black dress that we’re most thankful for.

Audrey Hepburn: 1961
Holding-2
It was Audrey Hepburn who put the LBD on the fashion map wearing a Givenchy sheath in Breakfast at Tiffany’s. The image became so iconic that it has spawned countless of recreations from Paris Hilton to Jennifer Love Hewitt.

Liz Hurley: 1994
Holding-4
Still can’t believe the transformative powers of the LBD? Back in 1994 a then unknown Liz Hurley stepped out with boyfriend Hugh Grant for the premiere of Four Weddings and a Funeral in a sexy Versace number. Dubbed the safety pin dress owing to it being held up by safety pins, it instantly catapulted Hurley into fame and history books.

Sonam Kapoor: 2015
Holding-3
Sonam Kapoor loves pushing the fashion envelope but even sometimes she sticks to the classics. For a recent media event, she picked a full-skirted LBD from Ashi Studio.
